Digital Artwork by Graphic Design Members


Members were asked to superimpose a subject onto a background in less than forty minutes. Here are some of the results:

For anyone interested, Seek to Inspire is hosting an art competition open to all students at University Prep.
Grand Prize: $50 cash + official certificate award
2nd Place: Starbucks gift card
3rd Place: TBA
(possible feature in school newspaper & free t-shirt!)

***To enter, you must pay the $5 submission fee to Mrs. Franks. Then you may submit your artwork to Mr. Colon or any Seek to Inspire member along with your receipt. You may enter as many times as you want!
All PROCEEDS are DONATED to underprivileged schools in NIGERIA!

Deadline to enter: December 11, Thursday!

11/18/14 LESSON: Combining Images Using Pixlr


1. Watch the video.

2. Choose two pictures either from the internet or your camera roll (if you can email them to yourself & save them on your computer). One picture should be your subject and the other should be a background.

3. Go to http://apps.pixlr.com/editor/ and then follow the steps on the tutorial.

3a. Superimpose the photos so that your subject is in front of your background.

4. Get creative!

5. When you are finished, email them to upgraphicdesignclub@gmail.com and yourself!

(If audio is not working, follow these instructions)
Note: Do not save your image while you are working on it until AFTER you are completely finished editing it. If you save it beforehand, you will not be able to edit the layers.

1. Click create a new image once on pixlr.
2. Title it.
3. Click File, "Open New Image" Choose your BACKGROUND image
4. Click the Marquee tool (The blue blox tool)













5. Drag and select the portion of the picture that you want.
6.Then click Edit + Copy


7. Click on background.
8. Then Click Edit +Paste.
9. Then Click Edit + Free Transform to resize your image. Make sure you take notice of your aspect ratio!
10. After you resize your image, click anywhere outside the box. It will ask you if you want to apply these changes, click "Yes"

11. Get rid of the second box behind your picture by clicking the red X. 
12. Click "NO" when it asks you if you want to save your image before closing. 
13. Now your background is complete!

SUBJECT IMAGE:
14. Click on File, Open Image to get your subject picture.

15. Click the Marquee tool.
16. Again, drag and select around your subject image.
17. Click Edit + Copy


18. Click on your background image.

19. Click Edit +Paste. Your subject image should now be on your background (as pictured below)

20. Click Edit + Free Transform to resize your subject image. 
21. Use your Marquee tool to select areas around your subject image.
22. Edit + Cut
23. For smaller areas, use the ERASER tool to carefully remove the extra areas around your subject.

24. Once you are finished, click File + Save. Save it as a JPEG extension.

25. Email it to upgraphicdesignclub@gmail.com and you're finished!
